The possibility of AC Milan leaving the San Siro area to move to the San Francesco area of San Donato Milanese with the construction of a new stadium is increasingly getting closer.
In this regard, Francesco Squeri, mayor of San Donato, made some statements to Sky Sport Italia:
On the bureaucracy related to the AC Milan project:
"The Rossoneri club has presented this proposal for a change. Now, for us, a process of study and in-depth analysis begins to understand the positive and negative impacts. Then we will go to the City Council to see the proposed change will be accepted or not. It will take two or three months for all of this. After the vote in the City Council, an agreement will be opened with all the entities involved, such as the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City, the Municipality of Milan, Autostrade per l'Italia, Ferrovie dello Stadio, and Parco Sud Agricolo. It will take a year and a half."
On AC Milan's project:
"A 'no' committee has been created: lately, only negative things have been heard. We, as the Administration, are committed to ensuring that there are great benefits for the city. With this project, San Donato would become an attractive city again. If the stadium is definitely built, there will be a strengthening of rail mobility. The station will finally become a real station. The stadium is an opportunity that we cannot afford to lose."
