Mario Balotelli, former AC Milan striker, has defended Gianluigi Donnarumma. This comes after the Italian goalkeeper had faced jeers and whistles at the San Siro during the recent Champions League clash between the Rossoneri and Paris Saint-Germain.
"I felt sorry for Gigio; the things that happened to him really aren't known. Milan fans may not understand, but I feel sorry because he doesn't deserve to be treated like this. As a player, he can't say what really happened."
Balotelli added:
"I believe, though, that if he could, he would have stayed at Milan. I know what happened; he is not at fault, and it's not a given to react the way he did. For what the fans know, it's understandable how they behave, but Gigio hasn't responded to anyone and hasn't done anything."
