In his editorial piece for SportItlaia, Gianluigi Longari has discussed the possibility of seeing Antonio Conte joining AC Milan as new head coach. Here are his words:
"Major efforts are being made with an eye on the summer, and Milan is seen as the absolute protagonist. The Rossoneri are seeking the best solution to build a future at the highest levels. The prospects of Stefano Pioli's departure at the end of the season are so clear as to represent a substantial certainty. It's evident that a situation like this entices many top managers around Europe, especially someone like Antonio Conte, who seems intent on returning to work in our league after his last experience at Tottenham in the Premier League."
He continued:
"The former Inter coach would greatly appreciate the prospect of returning to work in Milan. The Rossoneri currently stand as his top priority. So, what would separate one of the most sought-after coaches from one of the most ambitious teams in our football? The feasibility of creating a technical project that can simultaneously respect the economic sustainability parameters that the Milan ownership has rightfully been pursuing in the American phase of its recent history. While the sporting side, led by Moncada and with the influential support of Ibrahimovic, might have no doubts about entrusting their restoration to Antonio Conte, there are some more reservations from Giorgio Furlani."
Finally, Longari said the following on Milan and Conte:
"Relying on Conte would mean embracing a cause that involves a very significant salary, market demands that are equally if not more substantial, and above all, an almost daily battle aimed at satisfying that obsession for victory that has always fueled his professional experiences. It won't be easy, therefore, but efforts are underway."
