Tiémoué Bakayoko, Lorient's midfielder, has released an interview with L'Equipe in which he also talked about his experience at Milan.
Here are his words:
"After the season at Napoli, I returned to Milan, which had courted me, still on loan. I thought they wanted me, but not the coach (Pioli). In the first season, I played a few games. I contributed, but I didn't feel like a complete Italian champion."
"At the end of the season, I was torn. My family and I had found a home, and it's nice to stay with the same club for two consecutive years. But I felt like I wasn't part of the project. I was looking elsewhere, but I couldn't find what I wanted. I gave myself until the January transfer window. The coach told me he didn't count on me, and that was a blow to my ego."
Bakayoko added:
"I had alternatives, but these clubs couldn't afford my salary. I was willing to make an effort, but not to split it in two or three. So I ended up at the end of the season, often in the group, but almost never getting on the field. I would have preferred to stay at home with my children, watching the games on TV. The only regret of my career is this two-year loan: I should have signed for just one year."
