Milan won 3-0 against Rennes in the first leg of the Europa League playoffs at the San Siro stadium.
Before the Ligue 1 match against Clermont Foot, French coach Julien Stéphan spoke at a press conference and also revisited the Milanese defeat, which was followed by some criticism at home.
The coach said:
"What we shouldn't do is draw conclusions after a European Cup match against the last Champions League semi-finalist. We shouldn't question everything that has been done week after week, the whole evolution of the team."
Rennes' coach, Julien Stéphan said:
"We tend to question everything very quickly. We're not in that state of mind. We are clear-headed, objective about Thursday night's match. We analyse things. We have the honesty to admit when we come up against someone stronger than us, we accept it. But we are preparing again to face Clermont two days later, in a match that will be difficult, against a team fighting for their survival. We will need all our strength for this match, but also an environment that will be supportive, positive, behind us."
