AC Milan lost 3-2 against Rennes last night. But, they still qualified thanks to the 3-0 victory at the San Siro.
This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the only positive aspect is having secured a spot in the Europa League round of 16 (today at midday CET, the draw to know the opponent of the Rossoneri).
Milan's defensive phase continues to be disastrous: three more goals conceded after the four goals conceded a few days ago in the league match against Monza. Seven goals conceded in two matches against supposedly manageable opponents are indeed too many. With these defensive numbers, they won't get anywhere.
Fortunately for Milan, the attack works, although considering the spaces left yesterday evening by Rennes, Stefano Pioli's team should have scored more goals and closed the match earlier. Instead, the struggle lasted until the 90th minute.
The performance and attitude will need careful analysis by the Milan coach and his staff because playing like this, against stronger opponents like Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen, two of the teams that could be drawn today in Nyon with the Rossoneri, would guarantee a tough time.
