What's happening with Francesco Camarda? That's a question on many people's minds after rumours have linked the young talent from AC Milan Primavera to Inter Milan, in what would be a sensational change of allegiance.
Camarda celebrates his birthday on Sunday, March 10th, and from then on, he can sign his first professional contract. The timing isn't the most favourable for the Rossoneri, who would prefer to postpone the signing until summer, thus extending the maximum duration of the agreement (3 years for minors) from 2026, with rounding down, to 2027, thus reaching three full seasons. As for the contract details, there are still some things to iron out with the player's entourage, but Milan is confident of reaching an agreement without major difficulties, also because the boy is a Milan fan and some time ago he was in the stands with the fans watching the game against Bologna.
Inter among other clubs interested in AC Milan's jewel Camarda?
Purely theoretically, turning 16 and not signing a contract could allow Camarda to sign for other clubs for free, but it's worth specifying that he could only move abroad immediately. As things stand, with the latest revisions and in the absence of further changes in the near future, if Inter or any other Italian club wanted to try to snatch the young striker from Milan, they would have to reach an agreement now and prepare to welcome him only in a few months in the summer.
The latest changes to the regulations came into effect "from July 1st, 2023, for athletes who register with a new club in the 2023/2024 sports season, and from July 1st, 2024, for athletes who, on July 1st, 2023, have continuous registration. Consequently, for all "young talents" registered before July 1st, 2023, any pre-existing multi-year registration bond continues until June 30th, 2024, after which it expires, except for the longer duration of the bond in case of apprenticeship or multi-year professional contracts". Since Camarda has long been associated with Milan, the scenario that concerns us is the one highlighted.
The situation is different for clubs like Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, though, who are indeed interested, and who could immediately get their hands on the target. At the moment, however, they would face Camarda's will to reach an agreement with the team he supports and with which he is taking the first steps of a potentially brilliant career.
