The activity of data extraction through forensic copies from phones and other computer devices, such as tablets, seized in the investigation by the Milan Prosecutor's Office into the sale of Milan from Elliott to RedBird in August 2022, began on March 25 and is still ongoing.
The technical assessment follows the searches carried out on March 12 by the Special Unit of the Financial Police, also in some offices of Casa Milan, against CEO Giorgio Furlani and his predecessor Ivan Gazidis, among those investigated for obstructing the supervisory functions of the Football Federation, to which the prosecutors have transmitted the search decree for possible further investigations in the field of sports justice.
The defenses of the suspects have decided not to appeal against the searches and seizures. After the forensic copies of all devices have been made, investigators will start analyzing with about forty keywords already selected to delve into emails, exchanged messages, and other useful documents. Furthermore, responses and evidence regarding the disputed hypothesis of ongoing control by Elliott over Milan, as a sort of "hidden" owner after the alleged simulated sale to Gerry Cardinale's fund, are expected from the device analyses.
Just after tracing a document related to rumors last December about possible new "Arab" partners for Milan, the Prosecutor's Office decided to carry out the searches to shed light on the "current ownership structure," essentially seeking to understand who was truly involved in those negotiations.
