Christian Pulisic, who is enjoying life in Milan in his first season in Italy, has granted an interview to Fox Sports. Here are his words, as relayed by Milan Press:
On his arrival at Milan:
"I wanted an opportunity, and Milan really gave it to me. Pioli has really kept his promises. It's not just knowing that I would play, but also having someone who talked to me before and who really wanted me. He gave me the opportunity to play and be myself in the best way I know, he adapted me to what works best for the team, and I think we have found a good balance in this sense. Tactics are definitely an important aspect in Italy, but it was known. Every possible situation in training is constantly examined: how we press, how we execute set pieces. I feel like I've learned a lot. As for the Europa League, I can assure you that we will fight to try to win the trophy."
On the difference in managing his own body, Pulisic said:
"I wouldn't say there has been a big change, or something particular that I have done. I have certainly taken care of my body, but it has been nice to have the opportunity to play consistently. Your body gets used to it, which has been really helpful. When you are constantly in and out of the lineup, it can be difficult: your body is not prepared for constant use, so when you come in and offer a high-intensity performance, it can definitely be an issue. But this season I feel good and confident. That's when I play my best."
On the change in lifestyle:
"The lifestyle here is definitely different from London's. Everything seems a bit slower. The weather? Obviously, the comparison doesn't hold. It has been a big change for me, everything was moving at 100 miles an hour when I was in London, and the football culture was crazy. Here I've also been able to detach myself from football and enjoy the lifestyle, culture, food. I really like it. As for the Italian language, I can say that now I understand almost everything and I am doing my best to speak it when I can. I want to continue to improve and hopefully soon be able to do some interviews in Italian."
On the national team, Pulisic said:
"It's such an exciting time for our team and our country. It's hard not to look ahead too much, but we want to show this country that we can compete with the best, and now we have the opportunity to do so. We will try to go as far as possible."
