Julen Lopetegui is one of the most talked-about names in recent days. AC Milan's interest in the Spanish coach, as the successor to Stefano Pioli on the Rossoneri bench, had practically become an agreement between the parties, but it has been temporarily halted by the anger of the fans, who demand a higher and better profile.
Speaking positively about Lopetegui, though, is his Spanish colleague Rafael Benitez in an interview released this morning by the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The former Liverpool, Napoli and Real Madrid coach said the following words:
"I don't know the club dynamics and criteria guiding the choice so deeply, but I can vouch for Julen Lopetegui: he's an excellent coach."
Benitez also admitted:
"It won't be easy to inherit Stefano Pioli's bench because he has brought a title. Taking over from a winner is even more challenging."
