The Rossoneri continue their search for a new coach. After the name of Julen Lopetegui sparked a negative reaction from the Milanese fans, the club slowed down but did not remove the Basque's name from the list: he remains one of the candidates to inherit the vacant coaching position at the end of this season. He is not the only Spanish coach, however, whom they have included in their list of potential candidates; Roberto Martinez, current coach of Portugal and with a past in Belgium, is also there.
Today, the Corriere dello Sport headlines thinking precisely of these two:
"Lopetegui or Martinez. Is Milan going Spanish?"
According to reports: "Life after Pioli is increasingly marked by confusion."
In fact, many names have been mentioned, but none have prevailed yet, so we remain watching as time passes. In the subtitle, it is added: "The fans have unleashed on Lopetegui but the selection criteria are worrying. Who decides? Why only foreigners? And now time is very tight."
Certainly, the sought-after characteristics are debatable, considering that a foreign coach needs more time to adapt to Italian football. But above all, it is the timing that leaves people perplexed: according to the newspaper, thoughts about the new coach at Casa Milan only began after the sixth consecutive derby loss. Until then, Furlani and Ibrahimovic were willing to keep Pioli until the end of his contract.
