The San Siro stadium cannot be demolished. This is the essence of the ruling by the TAR of Lombardy, which declared inadmissible the appeal filed by the Municipality of Milan against the cultural constraint imposed by the Superintendency on the second ring of the Milanese facility.
The constraint is not yet in place, but it will take effect in 2025, upon the completion of the 70 years of the second ring, meaning that San Siro cannot be demolished.
Consequently, the path always indicated as the favourite by Inter and Milan fades away, as they have meanwhile are inclined to move to Rozzano and San Donato Milanese respectively. The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, commented on the decision: "It's proof that our way of trying to renovate San Siro is the only possible one. Today's ruling is another step towards saying that San Siro cannot be demolished, so there are two alternatives: either we manage to convince the teams to renovate San Siro, which would be a victory for the city, or if that doesn't happen, San Siro risks turning into something that loses some of its role. It wouldn't be good for anyone." This is reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
