Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nicolò Zaniolo, Aston Villa's forward on loan from Galatasaray, spoke about Paulo Fonseca, his former coach at Roma who is on the verge of taking over from Stefano Pioli at Milanello:
"Fonseca for me is a great coach, a very good person, honestly. On the field, he likes offensive play, with him we always tried to attack. I got along well with him. If he goes to Milan, I'll be happy for him. A quality above all? He tells things to players' faces... and trust me, that's not obvious."
Memories with Paulo Fonseca? Zaniolo answered:
"I remember the attention to detail he had in training and the calmness he showed in a difficult place like Rome. These aren't qualities everyone possesses. Unimpressive results at Roma? At Milan, he can obviously do better, the team is strong. Let's not forget that with Roma, Fonseca reached the Europa League semifinals by defeating Braga, Shakhtar, and Ajax."
