The Rossoneri's defensive front, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, could be completely overhauled. This process shouldn't come as much of a surprise given the poor performance of the defence and the overall containment phase last season.
According to recent reports, Milan is working on acquiring both a right-back and a central defender.
For the right-back position, Emerson Royal, the Brazilian full-back from Tottenham, is particularly favoured. The Rossoneri club had already pursued him in the past. According to the newspaper this morning, the player has already reached an agreement with Furlani and Moncada, meaning the South American player is ready to join the Rossoneri.
Clearly, the agreement with the club still needs to be found, which is always the most challenging part. The player's valuation is not low, but at Casa Milan, there is confidence that a deal can be closed at around 20 million euros.
In this regard, the source highlights that the upcoming week could be decisive. For the central defense, Rafa Marin, a Spanish center-back born in 2002 who played for Alaves this year but his contract is owned by Real Madrid, is highly favoured.
For the young talent, a solution similar to Brahim Diaz or Alex Jimenez could be considered: a loan that allows the Spanish club to retain control over the player. Other profiles on the table include the Portuguese Diogo Leite from Union Berlin and the Frenchman Lilian Brassier from Brest, who, however, seems to be on his way to Wolfsburg in Germany.
