Romelu Lukaku is an option for Milan, as we explained today, but only under certain conditions. The Rossoneri cannot afford the price tag demanded by Chelsea, and another parameter that they absolutely need to consider is the player's salary.
Referring to the last two seasons spent on loan between Inter and Roma, Lukaku earned a salary of 8 and 7.5 million euros net: even though the Belgian can benefit from the Growth Decree, these figures are still too high for Milan's policy, considering the player's age and current value.
Today, the highest-paid player at the club is Rafael Leao with 6.5 million (plus bonuses), and the Rossoneri management does not intend to further increase the salary cap, not for a player like Lukaku, who is 31 years old.
In this case as well, if Milan decides to proceed with the negotiation, the Belgian will have to accept a pay cut. At the moment, however, there are no conditions for a Milan acceleration in this negotiation, even though the striker's name remains on the list, in the background, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition.
