The new Rossoneri striker, Tammy Abraham, spoke to Milan TV as he presents himself to the fans. Here are his words:
“It’s a dream for me to be in the Italian club that has won the most Champions Leagues and has a history full of successes. I grew up as a kid watching tihs fantastic club with the great legends. I played against milan a few times and i’m so happy to be on their side... How do I imagine my first goal in the Rossoneri? In the derby. I touch the ball for the first time with this jersey and score the 1-0 goal to bring home the victory", as relayed via Milan Press.
On religion, Abraham said:
“God is a fundamental part of my life; I am nothing without Him. Even before arriving at Milan, I prayed every day, hoping that something would happen for me, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
From Idolizing Thierry Henry to Ronaldo the Phenomenon and also Didier Drogba:
“Speaking of idols, I often watched Arsenal with my family. Thierry Henry was an inspiration; I wanted to be a striker after watching his movements on the field. Even today, I try to replicate some of his plays. There are many great strikers like Ronaldo the Phenomenon, Didier Drogba, who I was fortunate enough to watch every week", explained Abraham, "My parents are the people I look up to in everyday life; they ensured I stayed focused on achieving my goal.”
On his life partner:
“As a father, the most important thing is to be present. I’m here to support his dreams and to do for him what my parents did for me. I will always be with him, and I hope he becomes a footballer, maybe even a striker (laughs). I could talk for hours about Leah, my better half. From friendship, we became one; she has been with me through life’s milestones and is a fantastic mother. I will always be grateful to her.”
On his childhood and memories with playing football:
“With my brother Timmy, we caused quite a few problems at home, breaking several lamps with the ball. That’s when our family understood what we wanted to become when we grew up. Football was, and continues to be, a constant presence in our lives; probably even my sister now watches more matches than I do.”
Abraham on his determination:
“One of my personal characteristics is that I’ve been determined since I was a child. I’ve always believed in my abilities; if I could go back and talk to my younger self, I’d say: well done! I liked talking and joking with people because life should be lived, and I’ve always loved it.”
On Fikayo Tomori, Abraham said:
“Tomori is another person I could talk about for hours. I’ve known him since I was 6 years old; we grew up together and shared many experiences. Our families have always been friends, and just the fact that we both made it to the Premier League, came to Serie A, and are now playing in the same club is a dream come true.”
On his Nigerian origins:
“I have Nigerian origins; my full name is Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham. I grew up in an area with many Nigerians, and I know the culture. My mother often cooks traditional dishes, and it’s nice to immerse myself in their way of life.”
San Siro and a unique feeling...
“You have goosebumps when you walk out of the tunnel, you hear the music, you hear the fans, you look around you, and like I said, goosebumps. I grew up as a kid watching so many great players play in that stadium and score there. Now, it's time to score for this great club.”
On the injury which hindered his progress last season, Abraham said:
“When I look at that scar on my knee, I think everyone goes through different situations. For me, it was an injury; other people face difficulties that can have a decisive impact on their lives. It was tough, I’d be lying if I said otherwise. I often cried from the pain, but there’s nothing you can do. My son helped me a lot because I had the chance to stay home and dedicate time to him. I have to return to the field to show the world that I’ve come back stronger than before.”
