In a column for The Daily Briefing, well-known Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, revealed some details about the summer rumours regarding Barcelona's interest in Rafael Leao.
According to reports, there was never a real negotiation. Firstly, because Leao wanted to stay at Milan. Secondly, because he had no intention of changing teams during the last days of the transfer window. Moreover, Milan management was not open to selling one of its key players so close to the end of the market, given the release clause of 175 million euros.
For AC Milan, Leao is a crucial player, and for a potential sale to even be considered, an astronomical figure, higher than the value of the release clause, would be necessary.
