A police operation was launched at dawn this morning, resulting in the arrest of several members of the North and South Curvas of Inter and Milan. Nineteen people were taken into custody (16 in prison and 3 under house arrest). Among those detained are several leaders of the groups that support the Rossoneri and Nerazzurri fans.
The investigation by the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate is linked to illegal activities, from ticket reselling to the illegal management of parking at San Siro, and to criminal association with the aggravating circumstance of mafia methods.
Among those arrested from the Rossoneri side are brothers Francesco and Luca Lucci, long-time leaders of the Curva Sud, along with Islam Hagag, Alessandro Sticco, and Christian Rosiello. On the Nerazzurri side, this incident adds to well-known news events such as the murder of Vittorio Boiocchi two years ago and that of Antonio Bellocco last September.
For some time now, the stands of Inter and Milan have not only been supporting their teams but have also been involved in a real criminal enterprise that exploited football fandom to carry out their illegal activities. There was a sort of tacit agreement between the two to divide the profits from these activities. The police also emphasized that the business was closely linked to the football context, with strong pressures on the clubs to obtain privileges, writes MilanPress.it.
