Marcus Rashford to Milan: Is it possible?
This is the question posed by Il Corriere dello Sport in its latest edition. And the newspaper’s answer is a firm “yes.” Following a meeting with the Englishman’s agent, the negotiations remain ongoing, with no major developments, either positive or negative, as of now.
The two parties are expected to reconvene soon, although the competition is fierce. The latest club to join the race is West Ham, now managed by Graham Potter. However, it seems unlikely that Manchester United would sell Rashford to another Premier League team.
In fact, the source writes, Italy appears to be the player’s preferred destination, particularly Milan.
The main obstacle, according to the report, is Rashford’s salary. At Manchester United, he earns 14 million euros net per year. Discussions with the player’s entourage are focused on this very issue: determining how much Rashford would be willing to lower his salary to join Milan and whether Manchester United would agree to include an option or obligation to buy after an initial six-month loan.
Are there tactical doubts as well?
On the wings, Il Corriere dello Sport notes, Milan is well-covered with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic. The options being considered are either a 4-4-2 system with Rashford and Morata playing together or moving Pulisic back to an attacking midfield role to free up space on the right wing.
These would be “problems” that coach Sérgio Conceição, however, would gladly welcome, as relayed via PianetaMilan.it.
