Today was the presentation day for Warren Bondo and Riccardo Sottil, two of Milan’s latest signings, as they addressed the press at the Milanello training center. Later, they were also interviewed by Mediaset. Below are the statements from the Italian winger arriving from Fiorentina, Sottil.
The emotions of his debut:
"It was an incredibly strong emotion because stepping onto the pitch wearing this jersey, for this glorious and historic club, has always been a dream since I was a child. Yesterday, when the coach called me, I won’t hide that I felt a deep emotion. Then, when I entered the pitch and heard the whole stadium shouting my last name, I got chills. The chant under the Curva Sud? The whole world knows how passionate Milan’s fanbase is. It’s an incredible feeling, both as an opponent and now as a player wearing this shirt."
Can you tell us about the last-minute transfer?
"It was a long day. I found out after training when my agent called me and told me there was this possibility. Then everything was finalized in the final minutes—it was tense and nerve-wracking. When a club like Milan calls you, you just want things to move quickly. I can’t wait to give my all."
What is your preferred position?
"I’m a winger, I’ve played both on the right and left—it’s not a problem. When the coach calls on me, he will decide where to put me, and I’ll be completely available."
How were you welcomed into the dressing room?
"Very well. It’s a fantastic group of guys, champions, and humble people—I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome."
Is this the biggest opportunity of your career? Sottil answered:
"Absolutely, for me, this is a huge chance. Over the next few months, I want to seize this opportunity and give everything I have to continue wearing these colors."
What did your father say to you?
"My dad actually found out before me, but he didn’t tell me anything—he was emotional, proud, and extremely happy as well. The whole family is thrilled. Am I surpassing his career? No, he always supports me—he played a different role, and he backs all my successes."
Can Milan help you return to the national team?
"It’s always great when Italian players in the league play for one of the most important clubs in the world, like Milan."
