Yesterday in Rome, there was an important meeting between AC Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani and Igli Tare, currently the strong favorite to become the new sporting director of Milan. A summit that lasted about three hours, which has not yet led to an agreement on the contract (Tare is asking for a three-year deal, while Milan would be more inclined toward a two-season agreement), and for which further meetings will be necessary.
The feeling is that it’s only a matter of time; Giorgio Furlani would like to evaluate other candidates as well, but the simplest and fastest solution leads to the former Lazio sporting director, as reported by Calciomercato.com.

After making many mistakes this season, the Rossoneri club has the duty not to make any more. Especially when it comes to choosing the new coach who will take the place of Sergio Conceicao. Furlani also reiterated to Tare his intention to have a say in this decision—not just from an economic standpoint. If Tare is indeed appointed as Milan’s new sporting director, the chances of Massimiliano Allegri returning to the Rossoneri bench would rise significantly. Allegri, who already coached the Rossoneri from summer 2010 to January 2014, is also the first choice of both Furlani and RedBird owner Cardinale. This point of convergence between all parties will soon lead to the start of real negotiations with the former Juventus coach.
What about AC Milan's Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
Moncada stays and doubles down. The French executive will return to his comfort zone in the scouting area, with an eye on the first team. And the choice of Tare would be welcomed enthusiastically by the current technical area director: the two share a relationship of great trust and mutual esteem. On the same wavelength would also be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who, in the first instance, had himself put forward Tare’s name as the ideal profile to take on the role of sporting director.
