After Tijjani Reijnders, who will officially become a Manchester City player in the coming days, AC Milan may lose another key starter — namely Mike Maignan, who is now firmly on Chelsea’s radar. The Blues’ interest is real and concrete, and the French goalkeeper is seriously considering the opportunity. The contract renewal talks with Milan have been at a standstill for months, despite a preliminary agreement having been reached earlier. The handling of these negotiations has not pleased the player at all.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Chelsea have yet to submit an official offer to Milan, but one is expected soon, as Maignan is a specific request from manager Enzo Maresca. However, the deal won’t be straightforward. As things stand, there’s a significant gap between how Milan and Chelsea value the French goalkeeper: the Rossoneri are unwilling to consider offers below 30 million euros, while the English club is not prepared to go beyond 15–20 million euros, leveraging the fact that Maignan’s contract expires in a year.
Milan set sights on Mile Svilar and Elia Caprile
Milan are doing everything they can to convince Mike to stay, as the club’s leadership, along with incoming manager Massimiliano Allegri, intends to build the team around him and Rafael Leao. However, with no guarantee that Maignan will remain, Milan are exploring alternatives. The most convincing option at the moment is Mile Svilar, Roma’s 26-year-old Serbian goalkeeper, who met with his club’s management yesterday but failed to reach an agreement on a renewal. His departure is now a concrete possibility, and Milan are keeping close watch. The alternative — a more low-cost option — is 23-year-old Italian shotstopper Elia Caprile, who spent the last few months on loan at Cagliari from Napoli, although the Sardinian club is not expected to make the move permanent.
