Mike Maignan's transfer to Chelsea seems imminent, with the Milan goalkeeper having no intention of continuing with the Rossoneri after the failure to renew his contract. Carlo Pellegatti, in a video published on his Instagram channel, commented on the disappointing situation as follows:
"I hope that tomorrow, with Maignan’s sale, the last dark page of a year, a season, a disastrous management finally comes to a close! And the word 'disastrous' isn't mine—it's the one used by CEO Giorgio Furlani. With the sale of one of the top five goalkeepers in the world, and yes, even he makes mistakes, for just 18 million, may we finally close the book on a season that's best forgotten. It’s unbearable: Maignan for 18 million while Inter sold Onana for 55 million. And someone tells me, ‘Yeah, but he had a contract.’"
Pellegatti continued to talk about Maignan's situation:
"But it’s not Maignan’s fault that since September he was promised a new deal, which never materialized, and now he wants nothing more to do with this Milan. He was misled—they first told him 5 million (euros), then adjusted it down based on mistakes, like in the orange harvest scene from the movie Trading Places—if it’s a bad crop, cut 500,000 euros. And over a difference of one million, you’re forced to give him away for 18 and go searching for a goalkeeper who’s not among the world’s top five and will make mistakes too. It’s incredible. I now hope that Tare and Allegri finally take full control of the situation and that things can change. I’m placing my trust in them. It’s them, Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri. I have no other hope for the future. It’s unbearable."
