Giuseppe Sala has again spoken about the future of the San Siro stadium. Intercepted on the sidelines of the naming of the Guardia di Finanza barracks after Silvio Novembre, the mayor of Milan spoke about the possible assignment of the project to star architect Norman Foster along with the Manica studio: “I have to say that I myself was not informed of the idea to entrust the project to Foster, but it seems very positive to me.”

The mayor of Milan reiterated the tight deadlines necessary to complete the transfer of the Meazza to Inter and Milan: “The deadline is November 10, before the restrictions related to the supervision works come into effect. But we are moving to try to finish everything by the summer. There is intense dialogue, I’m optimistic, but there is still work to do.”
As Sala explained, the goal is to get ahead of the implementation of the restriction on the second tier of San Siro, which would jeopardize the operation. At the moment, drawings or plans of Foster’s proposal are not yet available.
He won — together with the firm Milan had entrusted for the San Donato Milanese project — an international competition against twelve other candidates. “On San Siro, we are continuing to work, and in the end, it will be a matter of money, as is normally the case,” Sala said yesterday. The issue concerns the valuation of the facility and the area, which the Revenue Agency has estimated at 197 million euros.
