The 2024/25 season did not go as expected for Francesco Camarda. A total of 35 appearances, including 14 with the First Team, 20 with the Under-23s, and even one in the Youth League, with a total of 7 goals scored. But above all, little consistency: from November to February he saw the pitch very few times, often being called up by Fonseca and Sergio Conceição where, aside from one start against Cagliari, he alternated between bench appearances and a few minutes of play, which ultimately led to a stable return with the Under-23s. Unfortunately, this back-and-forth and a 3-month gap prevented him from accumulating enough appearances with Milan Futuro to play in the playouts. In short, adding insult to injury.
And now that Milan Futuro has sunk to Serie D, it's hard to imagine the striker playing in an amateur championship. At the same time, at 17 years old, it’s essential to play regularly, whether it's with the Primavera, the Under-23s, or the First Team. As long as he plays and grows. The mistake made last season should not be repeated, and the loan option now seems the most likely. Already in January there was a possibility, to Monza, which eventually only took Kevin Zeroli—who, in any case, was not used much.
In recent days, there has been discussion about the boy’s future, agreeing that the best solution is to let him toughen up away from Milanello. Even in Serie B, what matters is playing. And some movement has already taken place: once again Monza, currently undergoing a change of ownership but expected to initially confirm Adriano Galliani. But also the ambitious Spezia, which last season brought out the best in Francesco Pio Esposito. And just a few kilometers away, there’s also Carrarese, which has set its sights on another Rossoneri gem, Mattia Liberali.
A solution in Serie B could remove the spotlight and pressure, which he has been dealing with practically since before he even made his Serie A debut. And that’s certainly not a bad thing.
