AC Milan, given the difficulties in signing Dusan Vlahovic, who for several weeks had been at the top of the Rossoneri’s shortlist for the attack, have decisively shifted their focus to Rasmus Hojlund, the Manchester United striker. The Rossoneri are pressing hard for the Danish forward and will do everything possible to quickly convince him to accept a move to Milanello. This is reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, which explains that once the former Atalanta player’s “yes” is obtained, the RedBird-owned club will then try to reach an agreement with United as well.
Hojlund's stance...
For now, however, the player has made it known that he wants to remain in Manchester and fight for his place despite the intense competition. His intention is not to pack his bags, even in light of the imminent, and now official, arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for €85 million. United, though, do not seem to share the same view and are intent on finding another destination for Hojlund. To change the Danish striker’s mind, Milan’s pressure will be crucial, as they can offer him a guaranteed starting role and a leading part in Serie A.
Negotiations between AC Milan and Manchester United
The two clubs are already working to find an agreement between themselves. The Red Devils have recently opened up to the idea of letting the striker leave on a loan with an option to buy, but negotiations remain over the total figure, which Milan want to keep below €40 million: €5–6 million for the paid loan and then €28–30 million for the buyout. United, instead, are hoping to exceed the €40 million mark and perhaps spark a bidding war. An agreement between the clubs does not appear too far off; at present, the greater challenge seems to be securing Hojlund’s approval. Nonetheless, the Rossoneri remain confident, and yesterday there were frequent contacts with the intermediary handling the deal.
