Igli Tare spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of Lecce - Milan match.
Christopher Nkunku has arrived, where does he fit in?
"The hardest thing, as always, is making the right choice. He has always been on our radar, and we tried to strengthen the forward line, especially after Rafa's injury, which exposed a lack of pace. That’s why we considered making this move. Until three or four days ago, it wasn’t possible because the costs were completely different, but then we took advantage of the situation with Chelsea and were smart enough to finalize it."
Is the attack complete? Could Dovbyk come in for Gimenez? Tare answered:
"Numerically, as we stand now, I think yes. But we are also considering an alternative, a swap involving Gimenez. Whether that will be possible, we’ll know after the match. Keeping both? That won’t be possible. With just one match a week, we need the right squad balance. Only in the case of a swap, otherwise we will stay as we are."
Any response from Manuel Akanji?
"Not yet, but this change in formation over the last few days has put us in a bit of difficulty. We need to be smart in the last 72 hours to bring in an experienced player, Akanji has that experience and also the quality to play for Milan."
Milan’s defense, what’s the problem?
"We analyzed it thoroughly with Max three months ago, and now, seeing the two goals conceded against Cremonese, we’re back to last year when the goals we conceded were the result of lapses and marking errors. That’s why we decided to change the formation to give the team more security and stability."
How shocked were you by the debut? Tare replied:
"Shocked? Traumatized. To have a result like that… It was a nightmare of a week. We need to win because winning gives us calm and confidence. We have to be smart because Milan’s fans deserve a competitive team. The club has put us in a position to complete the squad, and we must be both smart and humble. Tonight, we must win at all costs."
Is Yunus Musah staying?
"We’ll evaluate that after the match. We have an agreement with Atalanta, but Jashari’s injury has complicated the situation. The decision will be made tomorrow."
