Christoph Spycher, sporting director of BSC Young Boys, spoke to Blick about the Swiss club’s transfer market:
“We managed to implement many of the things we wanted. Our goal was to strengthen the core and bring greater stability, as well as sign experienced players who have already played in Major League and taken on leadership roles. We also wanted to bring in a new rhythm with interesting players. We are satisfied.”
The net profit of €6.7 million and the surprising sale of Zachary Athekame for €10 million made certain investments possible? No. We have been financially profitable and self-sufficient since 2017. The Rihs family, who kept YB afloat during difficult times and to whom we will always be extremely grateful, has not had to contribute in any way since then. The sale of Athekame was not a decisive factor. We would have liked to keep him longer, but sometimes there are dynamics you cannot stop.”
