At the sidelines of an event at the Triennale, Norman Foster, the renowned architect whose studio, together with Manica, was commissioned by Milan and Inter for the new Milan stadium project, stated:
"Have I ever been to San Siro? Of course! Looking up from the pitch at the rings of this heroic and stunning architectural structure, you immediately realize how much it is about performance, about the spectacle. Designing the unknown is the architect’s task: to anticipate with an optimistic spirit. We have to plant the seeds, but only time will tell whether a piece of architecture will succeed and become truly a classic. The journey has begun. We are starting to draw: let’s see what emerges. It is an exciting and crucial moment, a difficult but fascinating challenge. It will be a project that leaves people in awe. Two teams, two clubs, one city."
"San Siro is already an extraordinary icon, but there are gaps that make the path toward a new stadium inevitable. History and memory will need to be preserved in some way. A complex project? It is normal, given the many parties involved, especially the fans, who are growing in number and whose needs are constantly evolving. A stadium is a bit like a city, always changing and born from the intersection of many different dynamics," reports Corriere di Milano today.
