Raise your hand if you would have thought Milan would be first in the standings after 14 matchdays. Probably not many would have placed so much trust in the Rossoneri before the season, even with Massimiliano Allegri on the bench, who carried high expectations. These first months have been a real assist from Allegri to his club, which now has to seize the opportunity in the winter transfer window.
AC Milan competitive
At the moment, Allegri does not want to focus on the standings. He has shared this approach with his players, who, like him, repeat the same mantra: we take it game by game and see where we are in March. As of now, the Rossoneri lead the table along with Napoli and have a clear goal of returning to the top four. Five matchdays remain before the halfway point, and for Milan to stay competitive, reinforcements are necessary: it is important to improve the squad both qualitatively and numerically, given the injury problems that have occurred.
Three signings:
Looking at Milan’s current squad, there are three positions where the Rossoneri could improve or extend competitiveness. First and foremost is the striker: this also involves a tactical issue, because Allegri wanted a forward more suited to his style already in the summer. That did not happen, and Max had to make do with Santiago Gimenez, who has not made an impact: 0 goals for the Mexican and an injury that has kept him off the field for a month and a half. The former Feyenoord player could leave, making room for a new profile better suited to Allegri’s requirements: a revival of Fullkrug or Zirkzee? Icardi suggestion? Lucca opportunity? These are the hot names. Two other reinforcements would be useful in defense, to increase depth since they play with three at the back with only two substitutes, one very young and inexperienced, and on the flanks, with a player more capable of giving Saelemaekers some relief.
