After Christmas, it is back to action. On the occasion of the 16th round of the Serie A Enlive season, Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan will face Paolo Zanetti’s Hellas Verona in an important test of maturity. After the bitter draw against Sassuolo and the Supercoppa defeat at the hands of reigning Italian champions Napoli, the Rossoneri need to return to winning ways to continue their push toward fourth place.
Milan sit second in the league with 32 points and a game in hand, despite a statistic that is almost unbelievable. Massimiliano Allegri has been able to field his first-choice attacking duo, Leao and Pulisic, for only 95 minutes all season: 17 minutes in the Coppa Italia against Bari in August and 78 minutes in the derby against Inter at the end of November. This figure will not change tomorrow either, as Leao has not been called up for the match at San Siro against Hellas Verona. In addition to the Portuguese winger, Allegri will also be without Matteo Gabbia.
For the clash with Verona, Allegri will rely on Maignan in goal. The defensive line is set to be confirmed, with De Winter playing as the central defender and Tomori and Pavlovic as the wide centre-backs. In midfield, trust will again be placed in the players seen against Napoli, albeit with two important changes: Saelemaekers and the returning Bartesaghi on the flanks, Modric in the middle, flanked by Loftus-Cheek and Rabiot. Up front, the Pulisic–Nkunku partnership is expected once again.
AC Milan's possible lineup vs Hellas Verona:
Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Pulisic, Nkunku.
