On the eve of Bodo Glimt versus Inter, the first leg of the Champions League playoff tie, Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni spoke at a press conference to put an end to all the rumors, criticism, and everything else that has surrounded him in recent days following the incident with Kalulu during Inter versus Juventus.
"I wanted to be here to give my version of what happened on Saturday night. It was right and only fair to show up in person and explain how I felt. When I felt the contact, I exaggerated the fall. I say that openly. What I regret is the reaction I had afterward, which was very ugly in the heat of competition, and I am sorry I reacted that way. I also believe it is only fair that my career and who I am as a person should not be defined by that episode. With that said, I did not expect to cause such a stir. I also noticed a lot of hypocrisy and fake moralism."
Bastoni also said:
"I heard many people in the field say things that are completely unfounded. I thank those who said the right thing, which is that I made a mistake."
