"Three ‘9’s for a spot in Milan’s future"
This is the headline this morning in Tuttosport, which explains that the Rossoneri will make a major signing in attack this summer, meaning that at most only one of Christopher Nkunku, Niclas Fullkrug, and Santiago Gimenez seems likely to remain in Max Allegri’s Milan squad next season. All three will need to deliver a strong end to the season to secure their place at Milan.
The club invested heavily last summer in Nkunku (37 million euros), but so far the Frenchman’s performances have been very inconsistent. Fullkrug arrived in January on loan with a purchase option set at 5 million euros; for now, Allegri has been using him almost exclusively as a substitute. Gimenez, who has only recently returned to the squad and hopes to be called up for Sunday’s match at home against Lazio, has been out since the end of October and will need to try to carve out some playing time in this final stretch of the season, even though it won’t be easy given the stiff competition in Milan’s attacking line.
