Christian Pulisic spoke to The Athletic in an exclusive interview during this international break while he is representing the USMNT. Here's what the AC Milan star had to say:
On failing to score against the Belgium national team:
"I have to be more clinical, for sure, in those moments. It’s frustrating for me, it’s been a tough patch. But I feel confident in the way I’m playing. And I feel good. And I’m creating chances. So I just have to stay positive and keep going."
On his last few months without scoring a goal, Pulisic said:
"I don’t like to think of it, really, as a rough patch. To be honest, even in the second half, I felt really good and sharp."
Pulisic did notch his first assist of the calendar year last weekend with Milan. And on Saturday with the U.S., when he moved from the left into a central position after halftime, he looked lively and dangerous, writes The Athletic.
"It was good for a little bit," said the ex Chelsea forward. "We were a little bit more fluid at the beginning of the second."
According to The Athletic, Pulisic is going to do just what he did after Colombia’s 5-1 trouncing two years ago: recover physically, watch some film, "see where things went wrong, I guess, and work to improve them," he said. “And come up with a plan. And fight to get a good result and put it behind us.”
The goal will come...
"I know a ball will hit off my knee and go in, and then things will change. So I’m not going to panic. Better now than this summer. Things are going to change."
