After two consecutive defeats against Napoli and Udinese, Milan must return to winning ways on Sunday away at Hellas Verona. Ahead of this match, Max Allegri will not stick with the 4-3-3 that failed against Udinese, but will instead revert to a 3-5-2.
In defence, Fikayo Tomori is pushing to return to the starting XI, as is Matteo Gabbia, who has been out for almost two months. The Italian centre-back could come back into the starting line-up in the middle of Milan’s back three, and in that case there would be a battle on the right between Tomori and De Winter, with Pavlović completing the trio.
This is reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, which also adds that Youssouf Fofana will return to the starting midfield. He only came on as a substitute against Udinese because he was not fully fit after suffering from a fever in the build-up to the match.
Allegri’s real doubts are in attack, as none of the five forwards available are in good condition. Rafael Leão, who was heavily booed on Saturday, is not at his best, as is Christian Pulisic, who is still goalless in 2026. Santiago Giménez has only recently returned after a long lay-off and is still short of match fitness, while Nkunku and Füllkrug have not been making an impact. Who will Max choose?
