In recent days, AC Milan's striker Santiago Giménez gave an exclusive interview to the journalists at RECORD Mexico, where he spoke about Milan and a possible return to Mexico in the future.
On the current season:
"It’s been quite a complicated year because I started the season with a lot of expectations, playing the first 10 matches as a starter while the team was in first place. I had big ambitions and a strong desire to achieve the season’s objectives, then the injury came…"
On the long layoff:
"No one likes getting injured. There was the bad news about the operation and everything else, but I’ve always said it: I try not to look at the past, I always try to focus on the present to build the future. I think the present is that I’ve come through the surgery, I’m feeling good. I’ve started training again and, of course, I’m still working to get back to 100% and bring joy to the fans," as relayed via Milan News.
On a possible return to Mexico in the future:
"It’s a desire deep inside me, and it will surely happen many years from now, I hope, because I enjoy being in Europe and competing at the highest level. But I would really like to return to Cruz Azul. It’s a club that defined an era; that Cruz Azul side of 2020, 2021, 2022 was, I think, a team that set points records, won the Cup, the Super Cup, and Liga MX, and I was fortunate to be part of that squad. It was something beautiful, wonderful. Obviously, one day I’d like to go back."
