It is no secret that Milan have set their sights on Leon Goretzka, the German midfielder born in 1995 who will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season when his contract naturally expires, as already announced in recent weeks by both the Bavarian club and the player himself. Since the decision was made public, and in reality even since the January transfer window, Goretzka’s name has quickly become one of the most appealing among those available on a free transfer: proven experience at a low cost, limited to his salary and related commissions.
From Casa Milan, there have already been initial contacts with the player’s entourage, to whom the Rossoneri have already submitted an offer: a three-year deal worth €5 million per season including bonuses, as reported this morning by Corriere dello Sport. Now the ball is in the player’s court, as he must decide whether to accept or consider one of the many other offers on his table. What is certain is that the Champions League will make the difference: if Milan qualify, it will be easier for the German to accept.
For that reason, Goretzka is taking a few more weeks; according to CorSport, his response is expected in two to three weeks, when the Champions League picture will be clearer.
