While waiting to secure a top-class striker suited to AC Milan, the club’s management are now focusing on strengthening the midfield. Among the players the Rossoneri are monitoring very closely is Ismaël Koné, a midfielder born in 2002 who plays for US Sassuolo and the Canadian national team. This was reported this morning by Corriere dello Sport, which also adds that his transfer fee is at least €20 million.
Milan could find the funds needed to make a move for Koné through player sales, such as that of Youssouf Fofana, who is currently a regular starter for the Diavolo but is not considered indispensable to the club’s long-term project.
The French defensive midfielder is attracting interest from the Premier League and Turkey. Also potentially heading for the exit are Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Yunus Musah, the latter of whom will not be signed permanently by Atalanta BC and will therefore return to Milanello at the end of the season.
