Luca Bianchin, a journalist, wrote the following in La Gazzetta dello Sport about AC Milan’s transfer market plans in attack, and the names on the club’s shortlist:
“The striker is the alpha and omega of Milan’s transfer market. The main focus is on the number 9. The biggest investment will be for the number 9. The most delicate decision will be the number 9. Milan have several options available but know that, whatever happens, it won’t be simple: signing a centre-forward is never easy for anyone, not even for Europe’s biggest clubs, a category Milan no longer belongs to.
Moise Kean and Robert Lewandowski are perfect examples. They have different ages: 26 and 37. Different transfer costs: Kean has a €62 million release clause (and could probably be signed for €45 million), while Lewandowski would be available on a free transfer, so at no cost. Different wages: Kean earns €4 million at ACF Fiorentina, Lewandowski much more.
There are many other available names. Dušan Vlahović must definitely be considered: Massimiliano Allegri likes him and his contract expires at the end of June. And then, of course, there’s Alexander Sørloth: Milan are keeping a close eye on him, because next summer he could leave Atlético Madrid. Gonçalo Ramos will leave Paris Saint-Germain, but he comes with high costs and a recent track record that doesn’t inspire confidence. Quite a challenge…”
