It is truly a great shame that Luka Modrić’s Rossoneri season, so exciting and enriching for everyone who had the chance to follow it closely, ended on the pitch at San Siro just a few minutes before the end of Milan–Juventus. The clash with Manuel Locatelli caused the Croatian a fractured cheekbone, which brought an end to his first (and hopefully not last) year with the Rossoneri.
The star player will miss the final four league matches and will begin working on his recovery in view of the North American World Cup with Croatia.
Before that, however, Luka Modrić will support his Rossoneri teammates in their pursuit of their seasonal objective: a place in the Champions League. For this reason, in order not to be too burdened by travel and to stay close to his children who study in Milan, the Croatian champion will not leave the city. Next week he will be at Milanello to begin his rehabilitation work.
He will work with the aim of being ready for the United States, Canada, and Mexico by 23–24 May: afterwards, like his teammates involved in the World Cup, he may decide to stay a few extra days to continue getting back into shape. This is reported today by La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.
