Interviewed by 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', Fabio Capello, former Rossoneri coach, spoke about Milan’s transfer market, saying that this summer they will first and foremost need to sign a top centre-forward. Among the names linked with the Diavolo are Robert Lewandowski and Alexander Sørloth:
“Lewandowski? I wouldn’t go for the Pole. A champion and an exceptional goal-scorer, no doubt about that, but too advanced in age. In August, Lewa will reach the milestone of 38 years. Modrić performed well even at 40? But a centre-forward is not a playmaker. When a striker loses the agility of his prime, he becomes easier to mark. If I were Milan, I would look elsewhere.
"If Sørloth convinces me? Yes, he’s a striker with significant physical presence and an interesting option also with Europe in mind. I certainly rate him more highly than those currently in Allegri’s squad. Am I referring to Leão? Not only him, but I’ve never hidden the fact that I don’t see Rafa as a true centre-forward. And mind you, I’ve always been a fan of Leão. Lately, however, he looks sluggish to me. He no longer has the explosive acceleration he had a few years ago, and in the role he plays now he struggles a lot.”
