Fedele Confalonieri, a trusted associate and the right-hand man of former Rossoneri president Silvio Berlusconi, answered questions from journalists on the sidelines of the presentation of Carlo Pellegatti’s new book "50 partite, infinite emozioni. Il Milan" (50 matches, infinite emotions. Milan).
Here arer his statements, as relayed via Milan News:
Of all these years full of emotions, what has stayed with you the most?
“Barcelona, Istanbul, the two Athens come to mind. But also older things like Wembley, the 4-1 against Ajax… So many beautiful moments. But also the worst evening of my life, against Liverpool.”
Emotions that can still be experienced again?
“I’m old, in three months I’ll be 89. These things will stay in my afterlife, and that’s that (laughs, ed.).”
Would Leao have played in that Milan?
“Come on… Leao is a fake champion. He looks like a champion, but a champion plays 90 minutes, every match. When does he play? A champion is Modrić, who even at 40 still plays… Modrić is a champion, he won the Ballon d’Or in the era of Messi and Ronaldo.”
If you could speak with Gerry Cardinale, what would you say to him?
“A bank that owns a football team, what does it care about winning a league title? That’s the point. If you’re lucky, as Inter are now, to have a great president… If we had Galliani, we might have some chance.”
Why hasn’t Galliani returned to Milan?
“I don’t know, ask him…”
Have you met CEO Furlani?
“No. And I don’t care to. As a Milan fan, I’m not interested.”
