Has Milan’s collapse in recent weeks been caused by dropping out of the title race?
According to 'Repubblica' on newsstands this morning, yes:
“The feeling is that the Rossoneri never truly managed to absorb the disappointment of going out (badly) of the title race: the defeat in Rome against Lazio, after the derby win over Inter, triggered a crisis only partially eased by victories against Torino and Verona. In a month and a half, the Rossoneri have lost enthusiasm, confidence, and even their goals. They have scored just once in their last five matches, through Rabiot at the Bentegodi, and 16 goals in as many games in the second half of the season. And the forwards haven’t found the net since 1 March in Cremona.”
AC Milan’s numbers in the second half of this league campaign are dreadful: 16 matches played so far, 25 points collected, with a record of 7 wins, 4 draws, and as many as 5 defeats, 16 goals scored and 14 conceded.
