In recent days, Pini Zahavi carried out the Italian mission that had been anticipated in recent weeks, with the super-agent trying, among other things, to find the right project for Robert Lewandowski’s immediate future. The Polish striker is nearing the end of his contract and is evaluating all the offers available to him. However, Barcelona’s number 9 does not have the approval of everyone within Milan: for Giorgio Furlani, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, the former Bayern player would not fit the project because of his advanced age. Lewandowski will turn 38 in August and is asking for a significant salary, given that he would be available on a free transfer.
Zahavi did not only discuss him, as the agent also represents Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman, who arrived in the summer from Chelsea for around €40 million, has scored only six goals (five in Serie A and one in the Coppa Italia) and has never fully convinced when selected by Allegri. His only real peak in form came around January, when it seemed the club was already prepared to seriously consider any offers for him. There was talk of strong interest from Fenerbahçe, but both because of the player’s wishes and his performances, nothing ultimately came of it, as told via Milannews.it.
There will be more time in the summer to work on a deal, as Nkunku continues to be considered available for transfer. He has not adapted to Milan, Serie A, or Allegri’s style of play, delivering performances far removed from the dazzling displays he produced a few years ago with RB Leipzig. Milan are asking for around €35 million in order to avoid making a capital loss: a sale would free up significant space both in terms of wages and the squad’s overall cost. The meeting with Zahavi also took place to discuss Nkunku’s future, which could lie away from Milan.
