According to what Il Giornale reports in today’s edition, Gerry Cardinale, who was present on Sunday alongside the Rossoneri team during the important away match at Genoa, won 2–1 by Milan thanks to goals from Nkunku from the penalty spot and Athekame, greatly appreciated Max Allegri’s post-match comments.
The ex Juventus coach commented as follows on the Rossoneri owner’s presence in Genoa: "Was Cardinale’s presence fundamental? Fundamental, but I think I have always said so. If we make a pyramid scale: the club is above everything, then the organisation must be strong because if it is, everyone becomes stronger and better. Cardinale came to speak before the match and there was a more positive energy."
While Cardinale’s presence pleased Allegri greatly, at the same time the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimović from the stands at Marassi also caused quite a stir, as he was not close to the team despite the importance of the match. Alongside the Swede, who has not been seen away from home or at Milanello for some time, Geoffrey Moncada was also not present in the stands.
