As always on 'Viva El Futbol', Antonio Cassano, former AC Milan striker, commented on the rumours suggesting that behind the dispute between Max Allegri and Zlatan Ibrahimović there were also his phone calls with the Swede:
“Ibrahimović is an executive and does whatever he wants. I’ve known him for 16 years, he is a friend of mine just like Thiago Silva, Totti, Montella and many others. I speak to Ibra whenever I feel like it; when I want, we call each other. And we are not talking about Allegri, because he doesn’t need me to say certain things. He tells them to his face, just as he did when he was a player."
Cassano added:
"As for what has come out: Allegri has already moved his people to leak certain things, because he knows he will be sacked regardless of finishing in the top four. Allegri is going home, just like Tare who chose him. After all the disaster he has made, without giving the team an identity, are the fans stupid? No one has told me anything; with Ibrahimović we talk about families and holidays, I don’t need to call him to talk about Allegri. I am convinced that Allegri must leave because Milan cannot be represented by a poor coach. Allegri should be sent home, out of Milan, and that’s the end of it. Someone, some of his friends, is also trying to get him a role with the national team. But no, out of Milan and stay at home! I would name two candidates if Malagò becomes president: Mancini or Conte for the national team job."
Cassano concluded:
"I remind Milan fans that Ibrahimović is very fond of me; when I was ill, he was very close to me. He is a loyal person. The special relationship between me and him remains, without needing to hear each other to talk about anything else. Bringing these things into it means a smear campaign has been set in motion, and it was Allegri who deliberately started it." This was reported by sport.virgilio.it Milannews.it).
