Francesco Letizia, a journalist, expressed himself as follows on his YouTube channel regarding Massimiliano Allegri:
“In the football world, there is often a tendency to think that contracts only matter for clubs that must keep paying a dismissed coach until the final guaranteed day: that is not how it works. Massimiliano Allegri has a contract with Milan until 30 June 2027, automatically renewed until 2028 in the event of Champions League qualification, with a substantial salary increase to €6 million net: if someone, namely Napoli, wants Allegri, Aurelio De Laurentiis is obliged to call Casa Milan and hope they answer. And what would the answer be? That, by paying, at most the matter could be discussed. In a scenario like this, it is certainly not Milan paying severance packages, but rather whoever wants the coach paying compensation, as Chelsea did with Brighton for Graham Potter, along with countless other examples."
"Allegri has absolutely no power to say ‘I’m leaving’, under any condition: it’s not as though contracts say ‘valid only if these signings arrive’ or ‘terminated for free if Ibra phones the players’. No, that is not how it works at all. Question: if Milan wanted to dismiss Allegri because of his phone calls, would Allegri give up the €12 million net he is entitled to? You already know the answer. Having said that, I imagine Milan are willing to satisfy Allegri as much as possible on everything: transfers, sales, and order within the club. But this is not binding in the way it is being portrayed around, and in the way it suits those siding with Allegri and writing that he can freely go to Napoli as if he were unattached. And let’s also remember one thing: Napoli snubbed Allegri two years ago in order to appoint Antonio Conte…"
