Last night’s defeat against Cagliari condemned Milan to the Europa League, but not only that. It put an end to the sporting project of Tare and Allegri, as well as Furlani’s economic one. A major overhaul is expected, led by Cardinale and Ibra, in the Rossoneri world. At this point, given that his contract expires on 30 June, many are wondering whether Luka Modrić will continue to wear the Milan shirt or not. Peppe Di Stefano, live on Sky Sport 24, gives his view on the matter:
“Now it depends on who will be in charge of the new project, both technically and sporting-wise. There is a good chance that Modrić played his last match for Milan yesterday. Luka Modrić had set, in quotation marks, the conditions for staying: the first condition was Milan in the Champions League, the second condition was feeling physically well, the third condition was Massimiliano Allegri. And while there is no news on the second, there are certainties regarding the first and the third. Milan will not be coached by Allegri and Milan will not be in the Champions League. So it is easy to think that next year Modrić may not play in a Milan shirt and will probably retire from football. But I repeat, we will then see who the new coach will be, what project there will be, and consequently whether there will be room to try to involve Luka Modrić again within the Milan environment.”
