AC Milan do not want to let go of Luka Modrić, despite everything. It is true that Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri, both major supporters of the player, and vice versa, have left, but the Croatian’s departure is still uncertain.
The failure to secure a Champions League place on the final matchday could have completely extinguished any hopes of the former Ballon d’Or winner staying in Milan any longer, yet it seems there is still a glimmer of hope.

Milan, Ibra and Cardinale working on Modrić:
According to Sky Sport, Milan are continuing to push the player and his agents towards staying. Earlier this morning, the news was that the Croatian would make his decision after the World Cup, but the Rossoneri would like greater certainty over the coming weeks. His staying would also increase the club’s appeal in attracting the next manager, while also keeping the squad’s level very high.
On the matter, Zlatan Ibrahimović and Milan owner Gerry Cardinale himself are presenting a united front, with Cardinale personally working to convince Modrić to stay for another year. There is no further news at the moment, but his remaining could also lend greater credibility to the club’s new technical project, and not only that.
