AC Milan have identified Andoni Iraola as their first choice for the role of new head coach of the Rossoneri.
Gerry Cardinale reportedly stated in recent days that he favours a coach "in the style of Cesc Fàbregas" to properly launch his Rossoneri project, after abruptly dismissing all of the club’s top executives: Giorgio Furlani, Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada, all at once.
The Basque coach who has made a success of the modest AFC Bournemouth initially seemed the right candidate, but he would need convincing given strong interest from Crystal Palace F.C. and his preference for continuing to live in England.
According to reports this morning from La Gazzetta dello Sport, during talks held about two weeks ago between Zlatan Ibrahimović and Andoni Iraola, the Swede allegedly put forward two significant promises to persuade the coach.
The first is the club’s intention to make major signings over the course of two years. The second, perhaps even more important and yet to be seen if it will be honoured, is to stand by the coach even during difficult periods and criticism.
